It’s now December, which means it’s time for a Christmas post. What better post than one filled with the wonderful tunes found in some popular Christmas movies? If you aren’t a fan of older Christmas songs, I’d advise you to just skip this post because that’s what you’ll mostly find in this one.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Who doesn’t love the opening of Christmas Vaction? Sadly, the original song can’t be found on Spotify.
Another great track from the same movie is played over Clark Griswold’s daydream of his inground pool, and there aren’t many better songs to fit that scene.
Another hilariously placed song is the one near the end of the movie.
Lethal Weapon
Let’s not forget the opening song of this 1987 classic. It’s a movie set during Christmas, so that makes it a Christmas movie, right? It seriously is a very grabbing opening for a movie.
White Christmas
Any White Christmas fans out there? The film features more than a few songs, naturally. The two that always come to mind are White Christmas, which first appeared in another Bing Crosby movie called Holiday Inn, and the second song, “Snow.”
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Some people are very fond of this tune. It’s a pretty good song—not my favorite, though.
Home Alone
Who can forget these two classics? I’m not sure which one I like best.
Scrooged
Are there any fans of this one? Personally, I don’t mind it.
A few others I like
A totally 80s song that I can’t help but love. RIP George Michael
This one is a very unique take on a Christmas song; it’s on par for the artist, however.
A Jukebox post isn’t complete without at least one Elvis song, so here are a few. One of the biggest shames in movie history is that there was never an Elvis Christmas movie. Of all the 100 movies he starred in, you would think they would have made one.
A beautiful rendition by Johnny Cash
Ah yes, The Beach Boys! The best.
I’ll stop right there. I could easily go on, but I think I’ve curated a nice, healthy dose of Yuletide joy.
